The current generation Van der Wal comes from a family of blacksmiths. In 1958 Koop van der Wal started to work, as a 17-year-old, in his father’s forge. He wanted to work in the company, but only if they turn the forge into a tractor company.
The creation of the company
And so it happened. In 1964 Koop wore his father’s suit and went to England by train and boat, only with a little knowledge of the English language. He bought used tractors and shipped them to the Netherlands. The start of a glorious trade has begun. The company became one of the largest and most prominent Dutch trading tractor companies.
Daughter Greet joined the company in 1989. Willem followed one year later, when he was 19 years old. In 2008 the tractor specialist moved from Munnekeburen to Bant. The reason for this was the lack of space. The current building, situated near the A6, is four times as large as the old building.
In 2011 Koop decided to retire. Willem is leading the company since then.
